A couple weeks ago my little guy stayed home sick with croup. We were both a little stir crazy cooped up in the house so we jumped in the car to go on a drive. I really had no intention of getting out of the car but when we got up here and I saw this beauty, I couldn't really help myself. He was begging to get out too.We had some warm gear in the trunk that I never unloaded from sledding a few days before so I let my sick kid get out of the car and run around in the 20 degree mountain air. Cold air is good for croup anyway right? We had a great time and the last shot is a selfie I took of the two of us by propping the camera up on a rock. Pretty glad it did that.

You may have seen me post these over on the 5 Minute Project or the selfie on Wherever I Am With You but I want these on my own blog too so I guess you'll have to look again. :)

5 minutes of stick collecting....

I decided I'd make a sideshow of this months 5 minute project to one of my very favorite songs...just because. So be sure to turn up the volume REALLY loud because this song is out of this world good and good songs sound better loud!

(Bon Iver Skinny Love)

Be sure to head on over to the 5 minute project blog to see what has been going on there...

and in case you are lazy and don't want to take the time to watch the slideshow, here are the images without the killer song....

5 minutes on the swing...

It's time for another installment of the 5 minute project. Sometimes I have spiderman powers and climb up on top of the swing to get a different perspective. And sometimes I get bored and want to play around with slow shutters. Panning is hard...just sayin.

Ok, maybe I don't have spiderman powers....just a swing set with a playhouse on stilts right next to the swing. The panning? It really is hard. :) Be sure to head over to the 5 minute project blog to catch up on all the amazing posts there. And while you are at it find it on FB here.

5 minutes of sister shenanigans

Sometimes all it takes is to be patient and wait for that perfect time to pull out your camera. You can capture quite a bit of awesome in just 5 minutes…

Be sure to check out the 5 minute project that I am a regular contributor to here and on FB here. I love the concept and the talent there…and I probably won't always blog them both here and there!

5 minutes at the pool…

I'm excited to join a group of photographers that I admire in something called "the 5 minute project" that was started by Dana Pugh. "The spirit of this project is keep it unplanned, unstaged, just 5 ordinary minutes. Of course, 5 minutes can be extraordinary." It's brilliant. I have contributed once before to this project a while back but now I will be a regular contributor and I'm very excited. I tend to shoot my own kids in increments of five minutes anyways. You have to keep it short and sweet or they get sick of you real fast. :)

Today I give you what five minutes at the pool looked like at our most recent family vacation.

I probably won't always share my "5 minutes" here on my own blog so be sure and go follow this project here on Facebook and on the 5 Minute Project blog to follow along!

All images shot with my Mark III and SPL underwater housing.

5 Minute Project

I often tell my kids "just give me 10 minutes of cooperation" when I'm trying to capture them. I set my timer on my phone and when the alarm goes off, we are done. It works for us (sometimes). My talented friend Dana Pugh of Short and Sweet Photography has taken this to an even more difficult level and has started a blog called the 5 Minute Project. Different photographers from all over capture what the world looks like to them in just 5 minutes and share it on the awesome blog. I am in love with the concept. I love the challenge of creating quickly and seeing what I can get in such a short amount of time. It's a good creative exercise for me. Here is what my world looks like in 5 minutes...just a regular old evening in our front yard...me chasing my messy faced, tousled hair gal...
